National American University, founded in 1941, is a private, coeducational university offering associate's and bachelor's, as well as master's degrees in high-demand business career fields. The focus at National American University is on the non-traditional and corporate adult student. The student body consists of those attending classes at the campus on Colorado Boulevard as well as those attending at many off-site corporate/military/law enforcement and other community locations. National American University campuses, including Colorado Springs, currently provide education in 12 locations in the mid-western states.

Degrees:

Master's in Business Administration

This program provides individuals with a traditional set of core values in areas of business and management. Core courses are designed to provide graduate students with a standard base of knowledge expected of master's level graduates. These courses are divided into segments that are designed to fit your busy life and still participate in a quality, interactive MBA program. Expected outcomes of a master of business administration graduate are the ability to apply critical thinking in problem solving and the demonstration of the application of research techniques in a variety of business environments.

Accounting

One of the truly classic and timeless career choices, accounting offers tremendous opportunity for growth in management and financial success. As the cornerstone of any business, accountants are a business necessity. Our intense curriculum prepares you for the accounting field with choices of an Associate Accounting Degree or Bachelors in Managerial or Financial Accounting. If you are one of those seeking certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) the Financial Accounting degree is the program for you.

Applied Management

The Applied Management program is a degree completion program designed for individuals with one, two or more years of coursework or training in specialized fields such as law enforcement, corrections, military, firefighting, electronics, aviation, drafting, culinary arts, administrative support, medical assisting or other vocational areas. The Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Management enables students with training, work experience and/or college credit to lessen the time and costs for fulfilling the requirements for a degree in management. Students who have completed an associate degree from an accredited institution (this includes the Community College of the Air Force) will receive a block transfer of general education credit which fulfills the general education requirements of the bachelor's degree in applied science. This program offers many adults with work experience the opportunity to accelerate an advance in their careers or obtain the promotional positions for which they are qualified.

Business Administration

National American University Business Administration program develops the solid educational foundation business graduates need for entry or advancement in the challenging environment of today's business world. Business administration majors can choose from a number of emphases that include: Management, Finance, Accounting, Computer Technology and International Business.

Computer/Information Systems Careers

Information technology is challenging all of us to keep up with ongoing developments in the field of computers and information systems. Our programs have evolved to keep abreast of the changes in this dynamic field. At the Denver campus in response to the needs of our students and the demands of business employers we have added and upgraded computer labs to meet these developing needs. The Denver campus is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Provider in recognition of our demonstrated expertise and commitment to providing outstanding business solutions.

Information Technology (IT)

Business graduates who can apply and develop computer technology to the needs of today's business organizations are in high demand in the Denver metro area. The Denver campus offers computer information systems degrees with emphases in areas of Applications/Programming, Database Administration and Web Master. These programs have a direct connection to the positions companies are recruiting to fill.

Management Information Systems (MIS)

National American University's MIS program provides excellent preparation for entry or advancement in the rapidly expanding field of information systems. As a systems manager or consultant who applies computer technology to business needs you will need three key skills that our MIS program develops: management and communication skills, knowledge of software applications and telecommunication fundamentals. For those who seek employment in the high demand area of network administration (NT) you can select an emphasis in Network Administration/Microsoft. This MIS specialization prepares you as well for the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification which carries considerable value for today's MIS graduate.

Health Care Management

This program provides associate degree holders in health related professions an opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree in health care management to enhance their options beyond the clinical side of the health care service industry to the business or leadership side. As a result of the program, students will increase their interpersonal skills, their written and oral communication skills, and their problem-solving and decision-making skills. In addition, students will enhance their self-knowledege and will experience growth in their self-image, self-reliance and leadership skills.

Medical Assistant/Medical Administrative Assistant

The Medical Assisting degree is a two-year program which trains students to work in outpatient settings, such as physician offices and other health care facilities. The medical assisting field is expected to be one of the ten fastest growing through the year 2006.

Students enrolled in this program will learn how to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks. Administrative duties may include updating of patient's medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services and handling office billing.

Clinical duties can include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, collecting and preparing routine laboratory tests, drawing blood, taking electrocardiograms and calling in telephone prescriptions.

Graduates of the national American University Medical Assisting program earn an associate of applied science degree and qualify to take the National American Association of Medical Assistants Certification Exam.

Location:

The main campus is located in Southeast Denver in the Empire Park Office Complex on Colorado Boulevard and Louisiana, one-half mile north of I-25. Additionally, classes are offered in over 10 community and corporate locations.

Schedule:

Flexible day, evening, and weekend classes are available throughout the year. National American University offers both 11-week regular quarters and 5 ½-week accelerated interim quarters. Accelerated delivery offers a three-classes-in-one night schedule.

Admission:

A high school diploma or GED certificate is the minimum requirement for admission.

Tuition:

Tuition is determined by the number of credit hours taken per quarter. Tuition is the same for resident and non-resident students. Tuition deferment is available for those students receiving company tuition assistance.
